NETFLIX is gearing up for the global release of ‘Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told’ on December 1.
Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, head of Borracho Productions, highlighted the challenges faced in securing the film’s spot on the platform due to its politically sensitive storyline.
“Ipinaglaban namin ito. Kung alam nyo lang ang pinagdaanan namin, kasi politically charged ang pelikula. Pero naipakita natin sa Netflix na karapat-dapat nilang [ipalabas ito]. Kase it’s a multi-awarded movie. I’m so proud of it,” shared Atty. Ferdinand Topacio.
The movie explores the 2015 Mamasapano clash, which resulted in the tragic loss of 44 members of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Special Action Force.
Directed by Lester Dimaranan and written by Eric Ramos, the film stars Edu Manzano, Aljur Abrenica, Paolo Gumabao, and other talented actors.
‘MAMASAPANO’ clinched three awards at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2022: Best Screenplay, Best Original Theme Song, and the Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award. Additionally, it received nominations from the Film Academy of the Philippines and the Entertainment Editor’s Choice Awards. (Eric Borromeo)
